How To Visit and Stay in London For Kids Birthday Weekend

I always wanted to make my daughter's 10th birthday special. I wanted her to have a day or weekend that she would always remember. I asked her and she insisted on going to London for her birthday this year.

Unfortunately, the only time that worked for us coincided with the jubilee week, so hotel prices went through the roof. I was looking for a reasonably priced place to stay that isn't a dump and was looking for recommendations for places she might want to check out while we're there.

She was particularly interested in the Great Fire of London monument, Tower Bridge and anything related to the history of the city.

My close friend Sofia from Manchester recommended Zedwell Piccadilly Hotels which was in central London and reasonably priced compared to other parts of London. There are so many attractions nearby which made it the best decision.

We booked our tickets 2 weeks in advance to get good rates and to avoid the rush. I would recommend the same to anyone who is planning a trip to London.

In two days, we were able to cover following attractions.

Piccadilly Circus - My daughter loved Piccadilly Circus because it had a lot of lights, and she liked the way it looked. It was also really close to our hotel, so she was able to walk there.

Lego Store - Unfortunately it was closed when we got there but my daughter was excited to see the biggest Lego store in Europe.

China Town - We had lunch in China town and my daughter loved trying new food. She really liked the noodles. But she also experienced some culture shock. She was surprised by how many people were there, and by all the different things there were to see and do.

Covent Garden - We walked around Covent Garden and did some shopping. My daughter bought a souvenir for her friend. I also bought a few things for myself. We then went to a comedy show which was funny.

Trafalgar Square - We walked around Trafalgar Square and saw the National Gallery. We didn't go inside because we had walk planned to Buckingham Palace.

Buckingham Palace - Since it was jubilee week, there were a lot of people at Buckingham Palace. We didn't go inside the palace, but we walked around the grounds and saw the music shows and lights. This was most amazing experience for my daughter to see that many people on the street and in the same place.

Westminster Abbey - This was one of my favourite places that we went to. It was so beautiful inside and there was so much history. My daughter was really interested in all the tombstones and wanted to know who all of the people were.

Big Ben - This is every child's dream to see Big Ben in person. My daughter was no different. She was so excited to see it and take a picture in front of it.

The London Eye - This was something that my daughter had been wanting to do for a long time. She was excited to get on the Ferris wheel and see all of London from above.

Tower Bridge - My daughter loved this because it was so big, and she could see the river from the skywalk. She was also interested in the history of the bridge and how it was built.

The Great Fire of London Monument - This was one of the places that my daughter was most interested in. She loved learning about the fire and how it destroyed so much of the city.

London Zoo - We didn't have a lot of time to spend here, but my daughter loved seeing all the animals. She was particularly interested in the tigers and the lion’s den made in Indian village styles.

Oxford Street - Finally I wanted to some shopping myself and get something for my daughter's birthday. I was able to find a nice dress for her at one of the stores on Oxford Street.

I think it was best decision to book hotel in central London for her birthday. Some friends suggested to book outside and travel by tube. But then my daughter would have been too tired after whole day of walking, and she would have missed a lot. Zedwell Piccadilly was perfect for us. It was reasonably priced, rooms are cozy but like luxury pod hotels, close to all the attractions and had everything we needed. I would recommend it to anyone who is planning a trip to London with their family.

Thanks for the recommendation, Sofia!

My daughter had a great time, and we made some wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. Zedwell Piccadilly was the perfect place for us to stay and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonably priced, central London hotel.
